1827 REDWOOD MCHENRY HOUSE FIRE

Today, October 17, 2018 at 2:39 AM, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1800 block of Redwood Ln in the City of McHenry. Crews quickly arrived and found a two story single-family residence heavily involved in fire. A quick fire attack was initiated. Fire crews aggressively worked to extinguish the fire while other crews searched the residence for occupants. Within minutes of fire department arrival the residence was searched and firefighters confirmed all occupants had safely exited. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and fully extinguished within an hour. The house is uninhabitable. A damage estimate is not yet available. There were no injuries. MTFPD received assistance from the following fire departments to cover our stations and provide personnel at the scene: Woodstock, Richmond, Fox Lake, Wonder Lake, Spring Grove, Round Lake, Crystal Lake, Lake Villa, Wauconda and Nunda. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is being investigated by MTFPD fire investigators and the McHenry Police Department. This fire is a great example of the importance of working smoke detectors. The family was alerted of the fire and was able to safely escape due to the presence of working smoke detectors.
