201 OAKTON CT MCHENRY HOUSE FIRE

October 11, 2018 , At approximately 12:15pm this afternoon, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to a report of smoke in the house in the 200 block of Oakton Court in McHenry. Companies quickly arrived to find smoke coming from the open front door of the occupied 2 story, single family dwelling. Two engine companies along with an ambulance crew entered the residence to commence an interior attack on the fire. Once inside, crews discovered that the floor leading to the stairwell had burned through. With this discovery, crews then entered the second floor from the exterior via a ladder to continue searching for any victims and fire extension. After several minutes, the fire was under control and there was confirmation that no one was in the building. Investigators from the McHenry Township Fire Protection District and McHenry Police remained on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. At the time of this release, the estimate of damage was unknown. There were no civilian or firefighter casualties. Crystal Lake, Nunda, Round Lake, Spring Grove and Cary assisted either at the scene or covering the McHenry Township Fire Protection District firehouses during the incident
