2816 STERLING STRUCTURE FIRE

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched on 1/1/2019 at 1:36 pm to 2816 Sterling Dr. in McHenry IL for a structure fire. Emergency response units arrived on the scene within 4 minutes and found a large house with the attached garage on fire. Crews aggressively attacked the fire and had it under control in about 10 minutes. Seven pieces of McHenry Township Fire Protection District apparatus responded to the scene consisting of 27 firefighters. In addition, Spring Grove and Fox Lake Fire assisted at the scene. Wonder Lake Fire provided station coverage during the fire. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Damage was contained mostly to the garage and the home was still habitable and turned back over to the homeowners. The damage is estimated at $30,000. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental in nature and is under investigation by MTFPD investigators.
