3805 MAIN ST. MCHENRY STRUCTURE FIRE

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched on 12/07/2018, at 12:38 hours to the 3800 Block of Main Street in McHenry, IL for a possible structure fire with reports of black smoke coming for the building. Fire units arrived on the scene of a two story residence at 3805 Main Street in less than two minutes. First crews on scene reported smoking coming from the structure. Fire crews entered the building to find heavy smoke conditions. Fire crews initiated fire suppression and rapid search operations. Fire was found and extinguished on both the first floor and the basement levels of the building. Rapid search and a secondary search of the building found and confirmed no occupants were inside the building at the time of the fire. After the fire was under control fire crews ventilated the smoke from the structure. The fire was declared extinguished by fire personnel thirty nine minutes after the fire department was dispatched. A damage estimate is currently not available. The house has been deemed uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the MTFPD and the McHenry Police Department. The Red Cross responded to assist the residents of the affected home. There were no injuries. The MTFPD received assistance from the following fire departments to assist with other calls within the MTFPD fire district and to also provide assistance at the fire: Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Nunda, Richmond, Spring Grove, Wauconda, and Woodstock
