COMMERCIAL FIRE 4507 W ELM MCHENRY

On August 2, 2018 at 9:11pm the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to EZ Tan located at 4507 W. Elm St (Route 120) in the City of McHenry for a structure fire. Fire crews arrived within 3 minutes to find what appeared to be an unoccupied business with smoke showing from the roof and soffits of the structure. MTFPD forced entry into the business and launched a rapid and aggressive fire attack. The fire was located and extinguished with 5 minutes of arrival. Crews thoroughly searched the entire structure and confirmed there were no occupants. Crews spent about 45 minutes ventilating thick smoke from the large business. The building is uninhabitable. There is no damage estimate available at this time. The fire is being investigated by the MTFPD fire investigation unit and the McHenry Police Department. No firefighters were injured. Crystal Lake FD, Nunda FPD, Fox Lake FPD, Woodstock FPD covered MTFPD fire stations during the fire to handle additional calls.
